15. Installing VMware App Volumes manager

In our last blog we have seen the challenges of maintaining applications and how does App Volumes address them. In this blog let us have a look at how we install and Configure app volumes manager.

System Requirements :

  1. Microsoft Windows Server 2019 Datacenter and Standard
  2. Microsoft Windows Server 2016 Datacenter and Standard
  3. 4 vCPU required
  4. 4 GB RAM
  5. 1 GB disk space
  6. DNS Record in AD+DNS Server
  7. Static IP assigned to the VM
  8. Name changed as per the DNS record created
  9. Other's IP's reachable over network example : DNS,Connection Server,vCenter
VMware App Volumes Manager Installation Steps :

Download the software from VMware website mount the App Volumes ISO, and run the installer by double clicking the setup.msi file (or right click then Install).






Click Next to begin the installation.



Accept the EULA and click Next.


                                         

Select Install App Volumes Manager option and click Install.



Click Next to proceed with the App Volumes Manager setup.



Select Install local SQL Server Express Database if you don't have another SQL Server installed in your network. Click Next.


Leave default values and pay attention to Enable SQL Server certificate validation option. Click Next.



If the certificate is not trusted you may receive this error.



To avoid this issue, uncheck the Enable SQL Server certificate validation option and click Next.



Leave default HTTPS Port and click Next.


Click Next to install the App Volumes Manager.









When the installation has been completed, click Finish to exit the wizard.



Once installed successfully you should be able to see below icon on your desktop.



Once the installation is complete, the product needs to be configured. Next blog will cover the configuration of the App Volumes Manager.
